About Us

Alana Chazan, Esq.

Alana Chazan, Esq. is a family law attorney and mediator who has been exclusively working in family law since 2009. Prior to entering private practice, Alana was an Equal Justice Works Law Fellow who spent three years developing family law, domestic violence and immigration legal services for low-income gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender survivors of domestic violence at the Los Angeles LGBT Center and Bay Area Legal Aid. In 2015 Alana was named one of the top 40 LGBT lawyers under the age of 40 by the National LGBT Bar Association. 


Alana has worked representing hundreds of survivors of intimate partner violence and is a California certified domestic violence advocate. Alana is the current membership coordinator of the Family Law Institute of the National LGBT Bar Association. Alana's legal writings on sexuality and the law have been published in the Texas Journal of Women and the Law and in the New York City Law Review. Alana is also an adjunct Professor of Law at the People's College of Law in Los Angeles, California, where she has taught Family Law, Community Property, and Criminal Procedure. 


Alana attended law school at the City University of New York School of Law. Prior to law school, Alana earned a Master of Arts in Political Science from the New School for Social Research, and Bachelors degrees in history and political science from UC Santa Cruz. Alana is a fourth-generation native Angeleno, and a mother, who is proud to be back living in and working in her hometown.  Alana aims to provide an affirmative space of sensitivity and care for every client, while diligently working to resolve their legal issues. Iris Porter

Iris Porter is a Virgo, legal assistant, member of the Los Angeles Paralegal Association and currently enrolled in the Paralegal Training Program through UCLA Extension. She earned a Bachelors of Fine Art from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design, was awarded a Merit Scholarship in Book Arts from the Oregon College of Art & Craft, and received a Library Media Certificate from Portland Community College.

Iris has a background working in academic art libraries as well as doing design,  publishing and letterpress printing work. She also enjoys assisting Alana and her clients navigate the legal system and helping people assert their rights. Iris may be reached directly at iris@acfamilylaw.com.
